the problem
The exterior of my sneakers started peeling off.
They looked bad—borderline unwearable.
But at the same time:
- They were extremely comfortable
- Perfectly broken in
- Hard to replace
I didn’t want to throw them away just because they looked bad.
the idea
Around the same time, I had been watching a lot of rug tufting videos.
And a thought clicked:
What if I could tuft… directly onto the shoes?
Instead of discarding them, I could:
- Cover the damaged areas
- Experiment with texture
- Turn them into something unique
So I tried it.
